BC tenancy agreement questions, answered

Is this the official BC tenancy agreement?
Yes — your answers are filled into the official Residential Tenancy Agreement (form RTB-1) published by BC's Residential Tenancy Branch, the same form the province provides. House rules you pick are attached as an addendum.
Is the generator free?
Yes. Generating and downloading your RTB-1 is free, and so is sending it to your tenant for e-signature.
Is a generated RTB-1 legally valid in British Columbia?
The RTB-1 is the standard agreement under BC's Residential Tenancy Act. The Act's protections apply to every BC tenancy regardless of what an agreement says, and terms that conflict with the Act are unenforceable — the generator keeps you inside the standard form.
Can my tenant sign electronically?
Yes. After you download your agreement, TenancyKit emails your tenant a secure signing link — they review and sign from their phone, no account needed, and everyone gets the fully signed PDF.
What do I need before I start?
About five minutes and the basics: the rental address, your tenant's name and email, the rent amount and start date. Deposits, included services, and house rules are optional.

TenancyKit also handles condition inspections, rent tracking, notices, dispute evidence, and T776-ready expense reports. See everything in the kit →
